Tailor Your Resume for this Job

Lee Strand, an established Irish dairy company based in County Kerry, is recruiting experienced South African HGV delivery drivers to join our distribution team in Ireland.

This is more than a standard driving position. Our drivers deal directly with customers, deliver products, manage customer relationships and help identify opportunities to increase sales.

We are looking for professional, reliable and customer-focused drivers who have excellent communication skills and take pride in providing a high level of service.

Licence and Experience Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid South African Code 14 driving licence.

Previous work experience does not have to be exclusively in a Code 14 position. Applicants with strong Code 10 delivery-driving experience will also be considered, provided they:

  • Currently hold a valid Code 14 licence.
  • Have excellent delivery-driving experience.
  • Have strong sales or customer-service experience.
  • Are confident dealing directly with customers.
  • Can demonstrate a professional and friendly approach.
  • Are willing and able to operate larger vehicles and trailers.

Experience in dairy, food, beverage, refrigerated distribution, retail deliveries or fast-moving consumer goods would be an advantage.

The Role

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Delivering fresh dairy products to shops, businesses and other customers.
  • Operating heavy goods vehicles safely and professionally.
  • Building positive relationships with customers along the delivery route.
  • Providing excellent face-to-face customer service.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase product sales.
  • Promoting Lee Strand products to existing customers.
  • Taking customer orders and communicating customer requirements.
  • Ensuring deliveries are accurate and completed on time.
  • Loading and unloading products using the appropriate equipment.
  • Checking and securing loads before departure.
  • Completing daily vehicle and safety inspections.
  • Completing delivery documentation and driver records accurately.
  • Following Irish driving-hours, working-time and road-safety requirements.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and care of company vehicles.

The position may involve early morning starts, weekend work and the physical handling of dairy products.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A valid South African Code 14 driving licence.
  • Recent commercial delivery-driving experience.
  • Code 10 or Code 14 delivery experience.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Previous sales, route-sales or customer-service experience.
  • The confidence to promote products and identify sales opportunities.
  • A clean or satisfactory driving record.
  • Verifiable employment references.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • A valid South African passport.
  • The ability to pass medical, reference, licence and background checks.
  • A willingness to relocate to County Kerry, Ireland.
  • A willingness to complete the Irish driving-licence exchange and Driver CPC requirements.

Employment Package

Lee Strand will offer eligible successful candidates:

  • Permanent full-time employment in Ireland.
  • Basic salary from €36,605 per annum.
  • Overtime paid separately where applicable.
  • A sales bonus based on agreed sales performance.
  • A food or lunch allowance in addition to basic salary.
  • Support with the Irish General Employment Permit application.
  • Assistance with the South African licence-verification and Irish licence-exchange process.
  • Support with Irish Driver CPC requirements.
  • Relocation and initial accommodation guidance.
  • Full induction, product training and route training.
  • A stable position with an established Irish dairy business.

Employment-permit sponsorship is subject to the candidate meeting all Irish government, immigration, driving-licence and employment-permit requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A safe and responsible professional driver.
  • Friendly, presentable and comfortable dealing with customers.
  • Sales-minded and able to recognise opportunities on a delivery route.
  • Reliable, punctual and well organised.
  • Physically capable of completing delivery duties.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Willing to learn about Lee Strand products.
  • Interested in developing a long-term career in Ireland.
