Commercial Insurance Portfolio Manager

Our expanding Commercial Insurance segment is seeking a portfolio manager with technical expertise in underwriting, portfolio management, and pricing. This is an exciting time to join the newly formed France Commercial Insurance segment, as we build the capability and technology to drive accelerated growth in this critical market.

Reporting to the CI Leader France, the successful candidate will leverage their leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving strategic initiatives for our ambitious Middle Market growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management:

• Oversee product line portfolio management, including claim trend analysis, to utilize data to drive strategies and underwriting rules.
  • Required to identify additional areas of portfolio review for constant/consistent portfolio optimization.
  • Based on the portfolio analysis, work with the Line of Business managers to implement changes to strategies, pricing, guidelines and underwriting rules.
  • Oversee product pricing, including pricing models. Responsible for working to identify external data and tools that are useful in pricing and analytical analysis of profitability.
  • Work closely with central actuarial and analytics resources to consistently improve pricing segmentation and implementation. Develop and manage a local actuarial team.
  • Engage with Claims to ensure that data capture, definitions and accessibility are optimized to enable best/fastest insights into loss cost details and trends for consumption by business units to inform pricing and underwriting changes.
  • Collaborate with technology management in project prioritization and planning to understand future resource needs, specifically with the build out of Master Package on Duck Creek and the ongoing support for Ignite products.
  • Manage and develop profitability of PDA, MGA and facilities within the Commercial Insurance BU.

What you’ll bring:

• Extensive experience in the Middle market
• Track record of managing a profitable portfolio. Ability to demonstrate portfolio actions that were developed to maintain and grow profitably.
• Advanced skills in portfolio analysis. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to analyse and identify areas for concern and improvement via data analysis. Additionally, candidate must have experience in implementing action steps to improve identified vulnerabilities.
• Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment to achieve strategic business objectives.
• Ability to think strategically and develop strategies to address current and future exposure, whilst being unafraid to execute and deliver results
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills. Candidates must be detail-orientated with proven influence management and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners and be able to multi-task and balance multiple priorities.
