Commercial Technical Specialist
Position Summary
The Commercial Technical Specialist is responsible for providing technical support, estimating, product expertise, and project coordination for commercial customers, contractors, architects, and internal teams. This role supports commercial projects from tender stage through project completion by preparing accurate estimates, reviewing specifications, and ensuring customer requirements are successfully executed.
The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge, estimating experience, and strong customer service skills to support profitable and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Quotation Preparation
- Review project specifications, blueprints, architectural drawings, and tender documents.
- Prepare accurate material take-offs, quotations, and project estimates for commercial projects.
- Analyze project requirements to ensure pricing accuracy and product compatibility. .
- Maintain estimating records, revisions, and project documentation.
- Support bid submissions and ensure deadlines are met.
Customer & Sales Support
- Provide technical assistance to customers, contractors, architects, and sales representatives.
- Recommend appropriate products and solutions based on project requirements and building codes.
- Assist customers with product selection, specifications, and technical inquiries.
- Respond to customer requests regarding pricing, lead times, product performance, and applications.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate commercial projects between customers, production, purchasing, scheduling, and logistics teams.
- Ensure all project details, specifications, and timelines are communicated accurately.
- Track project progress and assist in resolving technical or operational issues.
- Verify order accuracy prior to production release.
Technical Expertise
- Maintain strong knowledge of commercial related building products.
- Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and architectural specifications.
- Provide guidance on code compliance, product applications, and installation requirements.
- Support troubleshooting, warranty claims, and field-related technical concerns.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, architects, consultants, and internal departments.
- Participate in project meetings and customer discussions as required.
- Provide product presentations or technical training when needed.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, project efficiency, and customer experience.
- Assist with process improvements and product development feedback.
- Stay current on industry standards, commercial construction trends, and building codes.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in business, construction, architectural technology, engineering technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience in estimating, commercial construction, building materials, doors and hardware, or manufacturing preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial specifications and blueprint reading.
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Office, and ERP/order entry systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions
- Commercial store office and site visits.

- French and English (Bilingual is an asset) (Souhaité)
Permis/certificat:
- class 5 drivers licence (Obligatoire)
