Job Description:
Job Purpose:
This role is responsible for leading Communication and Patient Engagement in South Korea and supporting Corporate Affairs for APAC region. This position will develop and implement communication and patient engagement strategies to enhance BeiGene’s visibility, reputation, and patient-centered mission and disseminate BeiGene’s commitment to accessibility, innovation, and patient advocacy in oncology.
Responsibilities:
Communication & Patient Engagement (70%)
Communication:
  • Develop and lead a country-level communication strategy, covering external and internal communications, government affairs, and media relations, aligned with BeiGene’s global objectives.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders and industry groups to represent BeiGene’s interests in South Korea, including active participation in policy forums and industry events
  • Build trust and transparency with the media and public by overseeing strategic communications, managing issues, and handling crisis situations effectively.
Patient Engagement:
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with patient advocacy organizations to understand and address patient needs, positioning BeiGene as a leader in patient-focused oncology care.
  • Work closely with medical, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure BeiGene’s patient engagement efforts align with clinical and market access goals.
  • Develop and execute patient-centric initiatives that enhance awareness, education, and access to oncology treatments, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Corporate Affairs (30%) APAC region
  • Regional Integration for Corporate Affairs and Patient Engagement
  • Cross-Regional Messaging: Develop unified messaging across APAC countries, ensuring consistent brand identity and reinforcing BeiGene’s/New Company name patient-centered approach.
  • Policy Alignment: Collaborate with APAC Corporate Affair Lead on major policy issues impacting the region in oncology, and advocate for access improvements.
  • Enhancing Patient Advocacy and Access Initiatives
  • Regional Patient Support Programs: Support to develop and adapt patient-centric programs aligning with APAC patient engagement and access strategy.
  • APAC Leader Amplification
  • Executive Visibility: Collaborate with APAC leaders to build their profiles as thought leaders in oncology, crafting region-specific LinkedIn content and public statements to strengthen BeiGene’s reputation.
  • Strategic APAC Events: Identify key APAC conferences and forums where BeiGene leaders can participate, share expertise, and reinforce BeiGene’s commitment to oncology advancements in the region.
  • Crisis and Issue Management Support
  • Crisis Preparedness: Work with APAC teams to help establish a regional framework for handling crises or reputation issues, ensuring a coordinated response and protection of BeiGene’s reputation.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Influence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medical, regulatory, legal, and finance, to support Communication and Patient Engagement initiatives aligned with BeiGene’s business objectives.
Qualification Required:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with strong expertise in communication and patient engagement.
Skills: Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication, and project management skills; strong experience managing stakeholder relations and navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
Qualifications
  • South Korea resident with deep insights and expertise of the South Korean healthcare systems.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with strong expertise in communication and patient engagement
  • Strong collaborator who can incorporate input from others and can generate consensus through inclusion.
  • Highly skilled in influencing cross-functional teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and with scientific and commercial teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in challenging the status quo.
Additional Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of the South Korean healthcare and policy environment.
  • Proven success in communications and patient engagement, particularly within oncology or related therapeutic areas.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment with a collaborative approach.
