Tailor Your Resume for this Job

Aalto University is where science and art meet technology and business. We shape a sustainable future by making research breakthroughs in and across our disciplines, sparking the game changers of tomorrow and creating novel solutions to major global challenges. Our community is made up of 16 000 students and 5 200 employees, including 446 professors. Our campus is in Espoo, Greater Helsinki, Finland. Diversity is part of who we are, and we actively work to ensure our community’s diversity and inclusiveness. This is why we warmly encourage qualified candidates from all backgrounds to join our community.

TiLA! is a joint initiative by Aalto University, Aalto University Campus & Real Estate (ACRE), and the City of Espoo, aimed at all creative professionals—such as artists, designers and architects. We offer affordable workspaces, support services, and a community where creativity and entrepreneurship can flourish. We are currently in the pilot phase. The space is located at Vuorimiehentie 2A on the Aalto campus in Otaniemi and is part of Aalto’s creative ecosystem and Aalto Studios.

Do you get excited about bringing people together and creating a great atmosphere? Do you draw energy from getting things done, organizing impactful events, and fostering creativity?

We are looking for a

Community Coordinator who is enthusiastic about developing something new, to build the TiLA! community and to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the creative fields.

Your role

You are the heart of our community and the first point of contact for new members. You are daily present in the community, bringing together creative professionals and entrepreneurs to collaborate. You plan and implement inspiring activities, events and partnerships that support creative work and entrepreneurship. In this role, you have the opportunity to help foster the operating environment for the creative fields within the world-class entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem at Aalto University and in Espoo. Our goal is to break new ground and develop our creative industries ecosystem into an international pioneer.

Join us in building the future!

Your responsibilities

  • Piloting and developing TiLA!, its services, and community activities through extensive collaboration.
  • Identifying suitable creative sector players for TiLA!, presenting the new space and service concept, and selling the spaces and services.
  • Coordinating and managing the selection, leasing and contracting processes for the tenants/users of the spaces.
  • Building the community and creating an inspiring, engaging atmosphere of collaboration to support creative activities and entrepreneurship.
  • Opening up opportunities offered by the Aalto University innovation campus and Business Espoo’s business services to members of the creative community. Helping creative sector players succeed as community members and independent entrepreneurs.
  • Facilitating interactions that foster development between creative professionals and those from other fields—such as through events and visits—and acting as a sounding board for development paths.
  • Coordinating and implementing communications: you understand the forms of community-oriented communication and collaborate within Aalto and with the City of Espoo.
  • Promoting the visibility and impact of the creative sectors at Aalto University and enabling creative entrepreneurs to establish themselves in Espoo.

We expect

  • A higher education degree.
  • Experience in the arts, culture and creative sectors, as well as in creative work and entrepreneurship within these fields.
  • Experience in development work and a culture of experimentation; you thrive in a multidisciplinary operating environment that is actively taking shape and evolving.
  • A solution-oriented mindset and a service-minded attitude.
  • Teamwork and networking skills.
  • An active, self-directed, and independent approach to work, along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • The ability to quickly master digital systems (e.g., we make extensive and varied use of Microsoft applications, manage customer relationships via CRM, and run our website on Drupal).

We also value

  • Experience in business advisory services and customer service.
  • Experience in service design: the ability to identify the needs of customers, Aalto and Espoo, and to design them into collaborative initiatives.
  • Oral and written proficiency in Finnish.
  • Familiarity with the university and municipal sectors (e.g., Aalto and Espoo) as working environments, as well as knowledge of their services.
  • Knowledge of the principles of sustainable development and the circular economy.

Your network and team

  • You work as part of Aalto University's creative industries ecosystem team. The team also includes 5 other people who, in addition to TiLA!, are responsible for the Space 21 space concept and the Aalto Creatives pre-incubator.
  • The creative industries ecosystem team is part of Aalto Studio, which offers diverse spaces and services for audiovisual creativity on campus, from the Aalto Fablab to augmented reality studio spaces. A total of around 30 creative professionals work at Aalto Studios.
  • At Aalto Studios, we succeed together: we give each other help, and we are not afraid to ask each other for help when we need it.

What we offer

  • A diverse role as an integral part of a knowledgeable, multidisciplinary team, a vantage point within a top-tier university’s entrepreneurship activities, and the opportunity to contribute to their development.
  • Excellent opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration across the university.
  • Meaningful and inspiring environment. We are proud of our purpose to shape a sustainable future. We spark the game changers of tomorrow, and renew society with research-based knowledge, creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Culture that inspires and includes everyone. All our work is guided by the values of the university: responsibility, courage, and collaboration. It’s the people that create Aalto, now and in the future. We want to be an open community where equality and inclusion enable curiosity, innovation, collaboration and wellbeing.
  • Great possibilities for competence development and learning. We constantly keep learning to find the most impactful ways to empower – and invest in – our people.

You will work within a community of students, researchers, and other professionals, advancing socially significant goals in the fields of science and education. We will provide you with an introduction to your role and welcome you into a friendly, skilled team that offers ongoing support. We encourage and provide opportunities for the continuous development of your professional skills.

We aim to combine the best aspects of remote and on-site work and offer flexible working hours. Your on-site workspace is located in the revitalized and vibrant Otaniemi campus area, which offers diverse services and excellent transport connections. The position is fixed-term, running from 1 November 2026 to 31 December 2027. The salary range for this position is approximately 3 600 – 3 800 €/month.
