Introduction:
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and community-focused Community Development Facilitator to support the delivery and growth of inclusive, locally driven initiatives across the Belconnen region.
This role plays a key part in engaging individuals and families, supporting community-led initiatives, and building community capacity. You will collaborate with community members, organisations, volunteers, and internal teams to design and deliver programs that foster connection, participation, and positive social outcomes.
This role is 6-month full-time with potential for extension and primarily based at the Belconnen Community Centre with frequent travel across the Capital Region.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful, grassroots change and support communities to identify their strengths, respond to local needs, and build sustainable initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Experience in community development, engagement, or a related field
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to plan and deliver community initiatives and events
Experience working with diverse communities, including those facing barriers
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team
Experience with community consultation, data collection or reporting (desirable)
Basic marketing or social media experience (desirable)
Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Tertiary qualification in Community Services or a related field (desirable)
Responsibilities
In this rewarding role you will undertake the following responsibilities:
Engage with community members to identify needs and support local initiatives
Build partnerships with community organisations and stakeholders
Coordinate programs, events, volunteers and Community Connectors
Support inclusive participation across diverse groups
Assist with data collection, reporting and continuous improvement
Contribute to promotion of activities via social media and communications
Provide general administrative and project support
CRCS is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young children and young people. As part of our commitment to child safeguarding, we require all employees to undergo relevant screening processes, including Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) checks and National Police Checks.
CRCS also requires all employees to:
Hold or be willing to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT) and/or a Working with Children Check (NSW), and have these with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
Undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may effect their eligibility to work or perform the inherent requirements of their position
