Introduction:
Centacare North Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation delivering counselling, family support, disability services, youth programs, crisis housing, education and community services across North Queensland.

We are seeking a Community Worker to join our Communities for Children (C4C) Program in Mount Isa — supporting local families through early intervention, community connection, and capacity building initiatives. This is on a Part-time basis.

What you’ll enjoy

SCHADS Level 4 salary (pro rata) + $2,500 above award allowance (pro rata) + $200 sign on bonus
Salary packaging up to $15,900 + $2,650 meal entertainment
5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading
1 day birthday leave
Remote location allowance ($5000) (pro rata)

Description:
About the role

This is not your typical “sit behind a desk” role.

You’ll be out in the community:
Building strong relationships with local services and stakeholders
Supporting community partners to deliver impactful programs
Coordinating events, activities, and initiatives for children and families
Helping shape responses to local needs through community engagement

You’ll play a key role in strengthening families and supporting children aged 0–12 to thrive.

Skills and Experiences:
What you’ll bring

Diploma (or higher) in Community Services, Human Services or similar
Experience working with families, children or community programs
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Ability to work with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
Confidence coordinating activities, events and community initiatives
