The Opportunity:
Are you a highly experienced and meticulous professional with a passion for strengthening internal control environments? Civilmart, a proud CRH company, is seeking a dedicated Compliance & Controls Manager to join our Finance/Corporate team in Homebush.

This pivotal role will ensure robust Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) compliance and drive operational efficiency and regulatory assurance across our manufacturing and distribution footprint. As the Compliance & Controls Manager, you will be instrumental in leading and strengthening our internal control environment across both Financial and IT systems. You will provide critical, independent, and practical advice to stakeholders, aiming to improve business performance through effective risk management and control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in line with SOx 404 requirements.
  • Work with process owners to analyse, evaluate, and enhance business processes and internal controls, identifying gaps and remediating deficiencies.
  • Perform assessments of the SOx impact of new initiatives, system implementations, and changes in accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Finance & IT risk and control matrices (RCMs) for key business processes.
  • Coordinate and support SOx testing activities with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely delivery and issue resolution.
  • Support the design, implementation, testing, and remediation of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and automated business process controls related to SOx.
  • Ensure adherence to financial, IT, and business policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify financial and IT control risks and recommend and ensure implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Actively contribute to a workplace culture where WHS and environmental compliance are given the highest priority.
What We Are Looking For:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CA or CPA preferred).
  • Extensive experience (6+ years) in external/internal audit, with a strong preference for experience in a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Proven experience with the implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting is desirable.
  • Affinity with IT systems and a solid understanding of computer networks and technologies.
  • High level of commercial acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team, possessing a high work ethic and proactive, action-oriented approach.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of staff and external contacts.
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel (advanced skills desirable) and Office systems, along with knowledge of Accounting Business Software.
  • Must hold valid working rights in Australia.
