Computational Systems Biologist (M/F/D)

Preamble

Be at the forefront of AI-driven precision immunology for drug discovery

Immune-mediated diseases affect hundreds of millions of people world-wide, but less than 12% of new drugs reach approval, largely due to insufficient pre-clinical understanding of the complex underlying disease biology.

You will be joining a pre-seed stage techbio company aimed at disrupting drug discovery in the immunology space – by precisely understanding disease biology through iterative, causal discovery starting from realistic primary patient models. Our founders have authored several landmark publications in the precision medicine space, previously exited a precision medicine startup, and built a unique translational research program in a large pharmatech drug discovery company. As natives of both tech and bio spaces we deeply appreciate the unique irreducible challenges that come with both.

Consider joining us if you want to co-create innovative tech that addresses a critical unsolved problem at the root of drug discovery: effectively exploring the causal mechanisms of disease through more realistic models prior to designing therapeutics.

Your role

  • Process and analyze complex biological datasets including single-cell RNA sequencing and outputs of high-content imaging experiments.

  • Work closely with wet lab scientists to address emerging analytical needs.

  • Support lab-in-the-loop experimental design by analyzing results from previous iterations to guide resource allocation and next experiments.

  • Contribute to documentation and standardization of bioinformatics workflows.

  • Help integrate diverse data sources into our lab-in-the-loop discovery system.

Your profile

  • Ph.D or M.Sc. with equivalent experience in Computational Biology or a related field with a strong quantitative background.

  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python for biological data analysis, experience with version control.

  • Hands-on experience analyzing NGS data, particularly single-cell RNA sequencing; experience with imaging and other omics modalities is a plus.

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex analyses to diverse stakeholders.

Why us?

  • The opportunity to be part of a pioneering, highly collaborative team with a purpose.

  • Healthy participatory culture from the beginning: you will significantly shape company decisions, culture, and strategy.

  • A compensation package including salary, benefits, and a participation plan with long-term upside.

This is optionally a hybrid position requiring a few days per week onsite. The base of operations will be in the Klosterneuburg area on the ISTA campus, roughly 30 minutes outside of Vienna.

In keeping with Austrian legal requirements, we advertise a minimum gross yearly salary of 70,000€ for this position. However, the actual salary will be higher, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

About us

Graph is a precision immunology techbio that leverages perturbation modeling from primary patient cell samples combined with multi-omics data to deliver transformative targeted therapies and biomarkers for immune-driven diseases. Graph believes that due to an incomplete understanding of complex immune-mediated diseases, millions of patients are left without adequate treatment options - and AI trained with complex disease data can solve this.
