As Construction Estimator, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our projects through insightful and comprehensive estimates, setting the stage for successful execution.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in providing accurate estimates for projects, from conceptual feasibility evaluations to detailed estimates. Your meticulous attention to detail and analytical skills will contribute directly to the success of our projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading pursuits of up to $50M+, overseeing all stages from initial client contact to turnover to the Operations Team. They will conduct detailed analysis of contract documents, determine project viability, and identify staffing needs, project requirements, and potential risks. The Estimator will also provide pre-construction services, including budget preparation, feasibility studies, subcontractor tendering, and value engineering opportunities. Additionally, they will be responsible for soliciting information from subcontractors and suppliers, completing final cost estimates, participating in bid day closings, and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
- Interpret bid/proposal submission requirements, specifications, and drawings with precision.
- Manage and execute tender processes
- Budgetary, Design Build, and lump sum tender processes
- Develop a database for pre-liminary and feasibility budgets and schedules using historical data and regional statistics.
- Conduct all phases of estimation, including initial budget review, drawings, specification analysis, scheduling, labour and material take-off, subcontractor invitation, final bid;
- Develop comprehensive estimates for Class “D,” “C,” “B,” and “A” categories, ready for management review.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Designers through RFI processes to ensure a clear understanding of project specifications and scope.
- Work with Project Managers to establish project program schedules and provide insights into value engineering.
- Establish cost monitoring and reporting procedures for Project Managers.
- Solicit trades and suppliers, maintaining relationships with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct research for estimating and procurement purposes.
- Create and maintain databases, including labor, material, and equipment rates.
- Liaise with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and QA/QC Managers for cost maintenance, specification, and scope development.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to establish project budgets upon award.
- Identify and manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies.
- Participate in required meetings and provide valuable insights.
- Contribute input on necessary hardware and software for efficient operations.
- Visit job sites as needed to review costs and production progress.
- Prioritize safety by identifying and reporting potential hazards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in construction estimation.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding specifications, drawings, and bid requirements.
- Analytical skills to evaluate tender submissions and provide accurate recommendations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with cost monitoring and reporting procedures.
- Detail-oriented approach to database management.
- Familiarity with hardware and software tools for estimation (i.e. ProEst)
- Commitment to safety protocols and standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
