About MineSpec Resources
MineSpec Resources is a mining construction management company specializing in complex, remote, and high-risk environments. We support major mining projects across Canada by providing experienced teams of professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and productive execution.
We are currently seeking a Construction Manager / Project Manager to join a long-term, challenging hard rock mining project in Canada’s Arctic.
Position Overview
This role will initially be based in Ottawa, focused on mobilization planning, project setup, and pre-construction activities. Beginning in H2 2026, the position will transition to a FIFO rotation (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off) at a remote Arctic site.
The successful candidate will join a team of MineSpec management personnel embedded directly with the drill and blast contractor and will have overall responsibility for onsite project execution, acting as the primary interface between the contractor and the client. Dedicated superintendents will be in place for drilling and blasting operations; this role provides overarching leadership, coordination, and accountability for the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall onsite leadership for construction activities on a remote Arctic mining project
- Act as the primary point of contact between the contractor and the client
- Oversee and coordinate site superintendents, construction managers, and project coordinators
- Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
- Monitor and report project progress, risks, and performance to the client and MineSpec management
- Ensure compliance with site safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on zero-harm execution
- Coordinate with offsite head office and support teams (engineering, procurement, logistics)
- Support and oversee drill and blast operations at a management and coordination level (not hands-on), ensuring integration with overall construction activities
- Participate in and lead mobilization planning, logistics coordination, and site readiness activities
- Drive issue resolution in a remote, fast-paced, and high-accountability environment
- Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction with progressive management roles within the mining industry
- Proven experience on Northern Canada or Arctic projects (strongly preferred)
- Experience with hard rock mining construction
- Familiar with Drill and blast operations (strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, remote crews and multiple work fronts
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, and reporting
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate independently in remote, high-pressure environments
- Strong safety leadership background
- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline would be an asset
Work Arrangement & Travel
- Initial phase based in Ottawa, focused on planning and mobilization
- Transition to FIFO rotation (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off) beginning H2 2026
- Travel to a remote Arctic project site for the duration of the construction phase
- Expected project duration of approximately 4 years
What We Offer
- Opportunity to play a key leadership role on a major Arctic mining project
- Long-term project stability
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
- FIFO rotation providing structured time off
- Work with a highly experienced team in challenging and rewarding environments
