SUPERINTENDENT

Minimum of 5 years of experience managing the construction of underground utilities projects with stable employment history and proven track record. Knowledge of site work, utility infrastructure, concrete, and basic electrical/controls required.

  • Oversee daily construction activities including but not limited to: (underground utilities, excavations, concrete, electrical, structural).
  • Interpret Plans, Specifications & Other Contract Documents accurately to guide crews & subcontractors.
  • Ensure proper installation of all work.
  • Manage owned and rented equipment.
  • Direct field crews & subcontractors.
  • Assign daily tasks and set production goals.
  • Monitor performance and adjust resources to stay on schedule.
  • Participate in pre-work planning to determine best means and methods.
  • Ensure project sites are fully compliant with safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety walkthroughs to identify and correct any issues.
  • Ensure deep excavations are properly supported and protected.
  • Monitor confined space work and enforce standard practices involving confined spaces.
  • Maintain clean and professional jobsites for both safety and quality control purposes.
  • Execute the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Sequence work to avoid conflicts, rework, & Owner facility disruptions.
  • Coordinate utility locating and survey layout.
  • Work with municipalities, inspectors, and utility owners for inspections, tie-ins, & coordination meetings.
  • Ensure all work meets project specifications, drawings, codes, and standards.
  • Verify all materials are in compliance and per approved submittals.
  • Perform grade checks on sitework, pipe, and concrete items utilizing lasers and transit levels.
  • Coordinate testing (pressure tests, leak tests, pigging, disinfection, electrical testing, equipment startups, compaction testing, concrete cylinders, etc.)
  • Order and track delivery of pipe, fittings, bedding materials, backfill materials, concrete, and miscellaneous material as needed.
  • Ensure proper receival, offloading, handling, and storage of materials delivered to jobsites.
  • Coordinate tools and equipment on-site and repair/replace/service as required.
  • Make sure owned tools and equipment are taken care of by both self-perform crews and subcontractors.
  • Maintain daily reports (per Procore, or current system).
  • Document field changes, delays, and issues.
  • Assist with as-built drawings and creating field-copy redlines.
  • Address unforeseen conditions (rock, groundwater, existing utilities).
  • Make real-time decisions to keep work progressing safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with engineers for field changes or RFIs when needed.
  • Act as the main point of contact on-site.
  • Communicate with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients.
  • Respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Run project meetings as required including: safety meetings, progress meetings, preconstruction meetings, prepatory meetings, etc.

Submittals - Understand, interpret, and utilize Project Submittals.

Purchase Orders - check-in material against purchase orders & submittals.

Schedules - generate two and three-week look ahead schedules.

First Aid - basic first aid skills.

Pay Apps - assist the Office with monthly pay applications.

Physical Capability

- position requires routine walks through un-finished terrain and physical labor to include lifting and/or moving up to 60 lbs.

- Bluebeam Revu

- Procore (or other PM Software)

- Microsoft Outlook

- Microsoft Teams

- Microsoft Excel

- Microsoft Word

- Phone and/or Tablet Use

- Owner PM Softwares (Trimble, E-Comm, Etc.)

- PDF generation/editing
