Schedule: Monday to Friday (flexibility to work additional Saturdays when required)

We are seeking a suitably qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist with experience in general Ophthalmology and cataract surgery to join a multidisciplinary team across two busy eye clinics in Dublin. Our clinics are dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred eye care, with a focus on achieving excellent long-term outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in general Ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, retinal conditions, glaucoma, and ocular laser treatments (including YAG and argon laser).
- Perform intravitreal injections, ocular side room procedures, and other routine Ophthalmic interventions.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the medical and surgical retina service.
- Manage a variety of complex Ophthalmic cases and work collaboratively with a team of specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in continuing professional development, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Completion of Specialist Registrar training in Ophthalmology or equivalent experience.
- Registration on (or eligibility for) the Specialist Register, Division of Ophthalmology with the Irish Medical Council.
- FRCSI (Ophth), Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- A minimum of three years’ satisfactory experience in recognised Ophthalmic posts in a hospital setting.
- Competence in performing cataract surgery.
- Competence in medical retina, including the management of retinal diseases and intravitreal injections.
- Competence in the management of glaucoma and retinal surgery.
- Competence in performing ocular laser treatments (YAG and argon laser).
Desirable:
- Experience in vitreo-retinal surgery is beneficial but not essential.
- Additional expertise in the treatment of complex retinal conditions would be an advantage.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary: WTE salary of €220,000 with attractive bonus.
