Amherst Supply Ltd. is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Contractor Desk Associate / Junior Estimating Assistant to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with building material knowledge who is interested in learning more about contractor sales, quoting, and material estimating. The successful candidate will assist at the contractor sales desk, help process customer and contractor orders, and support our sales team with quotes, product information, and basic estimating tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist contractors, builders, and retail customers at the contractor sales desk
• Enter customer orders and quotes accurately into the system
• Answer phone calls, emails, and in-store inquiries in a professional manner
• Support outside sales representatives by helping with order entry, quote preparation, and customer follow-up
• Assist with basic material lists and take-offs under the guidance of experienced staff
• Learn to read and interpret simple drawings, measurements, and building plans
• Check product availability, pricing, and delivery details
• Communicate with yard staff, delivery drivers, and purchasing to help ensure orders are accurate
• Follow up with customers on quotes, order details, and product questions as directed
• Maintain organized notes and records for quotes, orders, and customer requests
• Help with general customer service and store support as needed

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lumber, building materials, hardware, or construction is required
• Previous experience in a lumber yard, building supply store, contractor desk, or related environment is an asset
• Willingness to strengthen skills in estimating, take-offs, quoting, and contractor sales
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with order entry
• Comfortable using computers, email, and point-of-sale/order entry systems
• Good math, measuring, and communication skills
• Friendly, professional, and willing to ask questions when unsure
• Able to work in a busy environment and prioritize tasks
• Reliable, team-oriented, and customer-focused

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
