About this role:
A rare and exciting new opportunity for a 12 month fixed term role as a Contract and Partnering Advisor in our Contracts and Partnering team has come about due to an internal secondment. We are excited to offer you the chance to be part of not only this great team, but also our organisation. This role is critical to our team as you will be the "go to" person for a portfolio of contract managers. Working alongside other Advisors and with the Team's Contract Coordinators, you will mentor, train and support contract managers and coordinators across the organisation to "get it right".
What I do?
- Provide mentoring, coaching and advisory support using the "Three E's model" (engage, educate, enforce) to ensure consistent contract management aligned with best practices.
- Empower contract managers to achieve contract success, ensuring outcomes, value for money, positive relationships, and effective risk management.
- Offer up-to-date visibility of contracts and management status, enabling informed forward planning for Team Leads, Managers, and General Managers.
- Work across Council's support teams to foster continuous improvement, and ensure consistent support, alongside innovative systems and processes.
What I bring?
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage upwards and prioritize tasks effectively
- Highly developed coaching, mentoring, interpersonal, facilitation, and negotiation skills to build relationships at all levels of the organization and ensure compliance with processes and systems
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and/or industry qualifications in contract management with at least 5 years of practical experience in managing complex contracts, preferably in a local authority or similar setting
Proficient in developing processes, tools, and materials to support education, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, excellent communication skills, and a knowledge or willingness to learn about te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ture Whaimana.

Hours of work: 40 Hours per week - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
