TITLE: Control Room Technician
POSITION TYPE: Part Time, Non-Exempt
COMPANY: Sharks Sports and Entertainment, LLC
LOCATION: SAP Center & Tech CU Arena
REPORTS TO: Technical Services Senior Production Manager
POSTING DATED: September 2024
PAY RATE: $35.00 per hour - (Dependent Upon Experience)
Position Summary:
Sharks Sports & Entertainment is looking for skilled audio-visual technicians with a positive can-do attitude and a passion for live production.
Control Room Technicians execute the in-venue presentation of each game / event at SAP Center and Tech CU Arena, entertaining and engaging crowds upwards of 17,000 people and helping to enhance the home ice advantage for the San Jose Sharks, San Jose Barracuda, and Bay Area Panthers.
There are several specific roles that make up the event presentation crew for any game or event. Successful candidates for the Control Room Technical position will have demonstrated experience/ability in one or more of the following roles:
- Show Director
- Technical Director
- Engineer In Charge
- Video Engineer (Shading)
- Audio Engineer
- Lighting Operator
- Camera Operators
- Replay Operator
- Video Playback Operator
- Signage Operator
- Graphics Operator
- Font Assist / Stats
- Utility
Essential Functions:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, exhibit close attention to detail, follow direction/cues and stay highly task-focused during events.
- Good organizational and critical thinking / trouble-shooting / problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet appearance standards
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older.- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a live (or live-to-tape) production environment. (3-5+ years preferred.) Acceptable experience includes, but is not limited to, radio/television, video production or live event presentation.

Experience with any of the following is a plus:
Daktronics display software
Ross Carbonite or Grass Valley Karrera switchers
Ross Xpression
EVS replay
Dante audio network
Q-Sys control system
Lighting systems
IPTV systems (ie Wipro, Triple Play)
NHL stats platforms (TVI Hits, Stripe/Oasis, SMT, etc)
Live web-streaming
Knowledge of electronics
General IT / networking / computer skills
Terminating cables or running cables through walls, ceilings, etc.
Knowledge of mounting hardware and ability to mount televisions securely to walls, ceilings, etc.
Adobe Creative Cloud (AE, Premiere, Photoshop, etc)
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT, etc)
- Be committed to "world class" operations in terms of a professional business; understand the needs SSE vision and purpose so that the objectives are achieved
- Ability to exercise creativity, initiative and good judgment in the handling of all Technical Services functions.
- Able to work flexible working hours including weekends, nights, and holidays
