Position is located at Aspen Cottage, 6:00a-2:00p, location, days/hours may vary.
All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
The purpose of the cook position is to prepare and cook food for PSH residents and to help meet ICF requirements by preparing physician directed “special diets” for many residents.
The essential functions of this position require the ability to learn the use and care of equipment, materials, utensils and methods employed in food services. Ability to understand, learn and follow instructions and procedures, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow standard recipes. Ability to perform basic math computations; to accurately weigh and measure ingredients. Ability to work long hours in rooms at high temperatures.
Parsons State Hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

Qualifications:
Preferred Criteria: Prefer one year of experience in commercial/institutional cooking. Education may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency.
Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess an unrestricted Kansas driver’s license.
Persons hired must pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
