Job Summary
Campbellsville University Dining Services is looking for dependable and motivated cooks to join our dining hall team. This position prepares high-quality meals for students, faculty, staff, athletic teams, and campus guests.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in preparing great food, and works well as part of a team. Institutional or high-volume cooking experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and production needs
- Follow daily menus, production sheets, portion standards, and service times
- Prepare proteins, vegetables, starches, soups, sauces, and other menu items
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and correctly
- Maintain food quality, appearance, temperature, and portion consistency
- Monitor food levels during service and prepare additional items as needed
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen procedures
- Properly label, date, store, cool, and rotate food products
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Assist with receiving, stocking, prep work, and kitchen cleanup
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other dining team members
- Help create a welcoming dining experience for students and campus guests
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food-service experience is preferred
- Experience in a restaurant, cafeteria, school, healthcare, or institutional kitchen is a plus
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and verbal or written instructions
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy meal periods
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and assist in different areas of the operation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry supplies
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work around hot equipment, steam, cold storage areas, and common kitchen conditions
