Cook – Early Childhood Centre (Fixed-Term)

Are you a passionate cook who loves preparing nutritious meals for young children? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Cook to join our Early Childhood Centre in Kumeu on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

About Us:
We are a warm and welcoming early childhood centre dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. Nutrition plays a crucial role in the health and development of our tamariki, and we take pride in offering fresh, balanced, and delicious meals daily.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children, accommodating dietary needs and allergies.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations.
• Manage food inventory and ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to plan meals that complement centre activities and cultural celebrations.
• Build positive relationships with children, staff, and families by ensuring a high standard of service.

About You:

• Previous experience as a cook, preferably in an early childhood centre or similar environment.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Safety Certificate preferred).
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to adapt menus to meet diverse dietary needs and preferences.
• A friendly, team-oriented attitude and a genuine love for working around children.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $25.00 – $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Rotating roster

Work Location: In person
