JP Matters Immigration Consulting is seeking candidates for experienced Cooks for a client, a restaurant, in Saskatoon, SK.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Line or First Cook (senior line cook). This role is ideal for someone passionate about the food industry, with a focus on serving customers and preparing high-quality meals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for our customers.
  • Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes.
  • Steam, grill, boil, bake or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients.
  • Check food and ingredients for freshness.
  • Arrange and garnish dishes.
  • Work well under pressure and within the time limit.
  • Track and document inventory levels of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure that kitchen area, equipment and utensils are cleaned.
  • Other duties as required

A First Cook will, in addition to the above duties, do the following:

  • Monitor the functioning of the kitchen
  • Train less experienced staff new skills.
  • Help develop menus, assess food portion sizes, estimate food needs and expenses, and oversee supply monitoring and procurement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience working as a cook in a fast-paced restaurant or commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, food safety, and kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Ability to prepare and cook a variety of meals consistently and efficiently according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Experience with grilling, baking, frying, steaming, and other cooking techniques.
  • Ability to monitor inventory, estimate food requirements, and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and follow health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Food Safety Certification is considered an asset.

A First cook will also have:

  • Previous experience in a senior cook, first cook, or kitchen leadership role is considered an asset.
  • Ability to supervise, guide, and train junior kitchen staff.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Pay: $17.00-$23.00 per hour
