Best Start Childcare is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable individual to join our team in a combined Cook / Cleaner role. This is a wonderful opportunity to play a vital part in the daily lives of the children and families we serve across our Dublin centres.

Job Title: Cook / Cleaner Location: Best Start Childcare Branches

Hours: 25 hrs/week, Mon–Fri 8:00am–1:00pm Start Date: Immediate

Kitchen Duties

• Prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for the children each day
• Follow Best Start Childcare menus, ensuring variety, balance, and dietary requirements are met, but be in the position to add our own recipes and put initiative in place
• Place and manage orders for kitchen supplies and ingredients
• Comply with HACCP food safety regulations – HACCP Level 1 & 2 training provided if required prior starting
• Maintain accurate food safety records and temperature logs
• Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organised, and fully compliant at all times

Cleaning Duties

• Carry out daily cleaning of the centre, including playrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and kitchen areas
• Follow a structured cleaning schedule and checklist
• Ensure hygiene and safety standards are maintained throughout the building
• Restock cleaning supplies and report any maintenance issues to management

What We’re Looking For

• A genuine passion for food and home-style cooking
• Previous kitchen experience is essential – a background in catering or food preparation is required
• A clean, organised approach to work with a strong eye for detail
• A warm, positive attitude – you’ll be part of a team that cares deeply about children and families
• Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
• Willingness to comply with Garda vetting and Child Protection requirements (Children First)
