Role Purpose and Objectives

The Local Laws and Animal Management Coordinator contributes to the achievement of Council goals and priorities by effectively supporting and assisting the Director Sustainable Communities to achieve the requirements of the council plan, policies and legislative responsibilities.

Skills and Experiences:
To Apply for this role, please include a cover letter addressing the following Key Selection Criteria:

You must include a cover letter.

Appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or extensive experience in community safety, all facets of law enforcement, animal management, emergency management preferably in a local government environment.
Proficient in the interpretation and application of local laws and animal management policies, legislation to ensure competent provision of accurate advice, information and recommendations.
Experience working within a regulatory environment with a high level of exposure to community safety, local laws, animal management, fire prevention and emergency response components and knowledge of maters within the Magistrates’ Court and VCAT.
Analytical and investigative skills in policy formulation.
Demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving skills gained through experience and formal accredited courses.
Highly developed consultative and collaborative abilities in initiating, managing and implementing change.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team and relate well to others.
