Salary range: CAD $180,000.00 – CAD $ 200,000.00 per year

GIBSON TANNER RABIN LLP is a new corporate and commercial law firm serving clients in the Greater Ottawa Metropolitan Area. The firm focuses on providing practical, business-oriented legal advice to organizations of varying sizes, including emerging companies and established enterprises. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Corporate / Commercial Solicitor at the firm's office at the Sun Life Centre (Ottawa) and based in the Greater Ottawa Metropolitan Area with a salary of $180,000 to $200,000 per annum (including bonus) with a August 31, 2026, start-date. The solicitor will draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and corporate documentation, including shareholder agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and governance materials. Daily responsibilities include advising clients on corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, risk management, and transaction-related matters. The role also involves coordinating with other practice areas on matters such as commercial real estate, employment, and conveyancing, managing files from inception to completion, and maintaining clear, timely communication with clients. The solicitor will participate in business development initiatives, contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, and support the firm’s commitment to high-quality, client-focused service.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10+ years in corporate and commercial Law, with experience advising businesses on transactions, governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Skills in Commercial transactions, including due diligence, personal property secured transactions, and related documentation.
• Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law to support clients with workplace policies, contracts, and employment-related issues.
• Exposure to business succession planning approaches, particularly where they intersect with business ownership or estate planning.
• Licensed to practice Ontario, with membership in good standing with the applicable law society.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
• Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize effectively, and work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
• Strong client service orientation, professional communication skills, and interest in business development.
