The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role leads the Fund’s tax governance framework, ensuring compliance and oversight across income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax and regulatory obligations. You’ll partner with internal teams and external providers to manage tax risk, strengthen controls and deliver accurate, timely reporting. A key priority will be driving a tax governance uplift program, enhancing processes and aligning the Fund to best practice.

What you’ll do
  • Lead end-to-end tax compliance, including oversight of annual income tax returns and external advisers.
  • Ensure all tax obligations (GST, FBT, payroll tax, member tax and reporting) are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and manage regulatory returns, including Country-by-Country Reporting and Reportable Tax Positions.
  • Oversee tax accounting inputs for financial statements, including provisions, disclosures and supporting analysis.
  • Manage tax adjustments, refunds and amendments, coordinating resolution of issues as they arise.
  • Prepare tax-related reporting and papers for management, Audit Committee and Board.
  • Oversee monthly tax reporting, reconciliations and controls across Finance and external providers.
  • Monitor tax risk, investigate exceptions and drive remediation, escalating issues where required.
  • Maintain the tax risk register and governance documentation, supporting reporting and attestations.
  • Lead continuous improvement, including delivery of a tax governance uplift program and strengthening control frameworks.
About you
You combine strong tax technical expertise with commercial acumen and bring the following key skills:
  • A tertiary qualification in Tax Law.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a large corporate or ASX-listed environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Experience leveraging AI within a tax function.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including basic financial modelling (e.g. VLOOKUPs).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a collaborative approach.
Nice to have but not essential:
  • Experience within the superannuation or financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of APRA regulations and prudential standards.
  • Familiarity with financial modelling and scenario analysis tools.
  • Experience working with outsourced service providers.
If you bring proven experience across tax governance, risk and compliance, and are motivated to make an impact in a member-focused super fund, we’d love to hear from you.

We are a super fund that has an exceptional work culture, provides a diverse offering in developing our people and you can be a part of it while earning an attractive remuneration package!

Interested and suitably qualified candidates should submit a copy of their updated CV.

Please note that to be eligible for this role, you are required to have permanent Australian working rights and residency.

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a workplace that values diversity, equity, and respect for all individuals.
