Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Corrections Officer to uphold safety and security within our juvenile detention facility. This vital role involves supervising youth, maintaining order, and ensuring a secure environment for staff, visitors, and detainees. The ideal candidate will be energetic, vigilant, and committed to fostering a positive atmosphere while enforcing court policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor youth in detention to ensure compliance with rules and safety protocols
- Conduct regular security checks using both physical visual inspections of the facility and utilizing security cameras.
- Respond promptly to incidents or disturbances, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate situations and proper physical handling when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records through report writing, documenting daily activities, incidents, and observations.
- Assist with emergency procedures.
- Enforce security measures such as access control, video surveillance, and perimeter checks.
- Collaborate with law enforcement personnel during investigations or emergencies.
Experience
- Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or similar roles is highly desirable
- Knowledge of security systems is preferred
- Strong conflict management skills with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Report writing abilities with attention to detail with all documentation
- Familiarity with juvenile justice procedures or detention operations is a plus

Pay: From $23.73 per hour
