Description:
About the role

As a Counsellor, you will provide evidence-based, trauma-informed counselling to children and young people aged 6–18 years who have experienced abuse, neglect, disrupted attachment and other complex trauma.

Working closely with Child Safety, carers, schools and other stakeholders, you will:

Deliver individual therapeutic counselling and interventions
Undertake assessments and develop tailored therapeutic plans
Support carers and care teams through education and practical strategies
Advocate for positive outcomes for children and young people
Maintain professional case records and reporting requirements
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families.

Skills and Experiences:
About you

You are a passionate and skilled professional who enjoys working with children and families and understands the lifelong impact that trauma can have.

You'll also have:
  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children, families or within the community services sector
  • Sound knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child development
  • Strong communication, assessment and report writing skills
  • The ability to build effective relationships with children, families and stakeholders
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Queensland Drivers Licence
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Queensland Working with Children Clearance (QLD Blue Card)
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check
