SUMMARY

The Country Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations within the location’s inspection and laboratory services in Denmark and Norway. This includes leadership of personnel, customer management, marketing initiatives, financial oversight, and all related operational activities. The role ensures effective coordination between inspection, laboratory, and administrative functions while maintaining alignment with Corelab / Saybolt International standards. The Country Manager reports to the Saybolt Area Manager and serves as the primary leader for all inspection, laboratory, and administrative teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the daily operations of inspection and laboratory services, including personnel, customers, marketing, finance, and related activities.

  • Prepare and implement the annual operational plan covering market development, service quality, pricing, training, and cost budgeting.

  • Conduct periodic evaluations and make necessary adjustments to the operational plan.

  • Prepare required reports for Core Lab and other stakeholders.

  • Establish and contribute to company policies and carry out regular evaluations.

  • Hold staff meetings and ensure effective communication across departments.

  • Develop guidelines for cost control and implement structured financial management processes.

  • Coordinate tasks across inspection and laboratory teams to ensure efficient workflows.

  • Ensure availability and proper control of materials, equipment, and operational resources.

  • Participate in recruitment processes together with the Operations Manager and Lab Manager.

  • Conduct technical inspections within areas of expertise.

  • Identify improvements and gather information to enhance the performance of future assignments.

  • Solve operational issues arising during inspections.

  • Report all irregularities discovered during work.

  • Handle customer and internal complaints, coordinating with Core Lab when necessary.

  • Maintain contact with terminals, refineries, agents, vessel crews, inspection companies, P&I clubs, and loss control offices.

  • Stay informed about technological developments relevant to operations.

  • Provide leadership to the organization and ensure employees receive adequate instruction, information, and support.

  • Delegate responsibilities effectively and monitor execution.

  • Support discussions regarding personnel issues, operational challenges, and service improvements.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of company policies and quality systems.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, work instructions, and guidelines.

  • Conduct annual budget evaluations and ensure proper implementation.

  • Monitor cost development and initiate corrective actions when deviations occur.

  • Maintain strong control of equipment, materials, and support resources.

  • Ensure employees attend required courses and training when needed.

  • Provide progress updates to the Area Manager, highlight results against plan, and implement adjustments to meet objectives.

  • Maintain overall responsibility for the safety of assigned employees.

  • Perform any additional tasks reasonably expected within the scope of the role, as the list of duties is not exclusive or exhaustive.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Higher technical education (e.g., Nautical Officer, Marine Engineer, Engineer, or similar).

  • Strong proficiency in English (written and spoken).

  • Knowledge of refineries and oil installations.

  • Understanding of vessels and maritime operations.

  • Several years of practical experience in handling and inspecting hazardous liquids.

  • Proven leadership experience.

  • Willingness to work irregular hours, travel as required and remain available 24/7 for urgent operational matters.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
