Criteria:

  • Level 8+ in Early Childhood Education (Manager role)
  • Level 6+ in Early Childhood Education (Deputy Manager role)
  • 2+ years experience leading and managing a large team in an Early Years setting
  • Experience in the Irish Quality and Curriculum Frameworks of Aistear & Síolta
  • Passion for providing quality education and care to children
  • Effective in action team leadership and development skills

Key Responsibilities:

Staff:

* Lead, manage and support your team of Lead Educators/Educators and students in providing a high quality, safe and nurturing environment and promotes the holistic development of each child.

*Impart knowledge in relation to the service policy and S.O. P’s and supporting the practical implementation of the service ethos, philosophy, and values.

*To support teams in the effective running of the day and operation of the service.

*To liaise with the Area Manager/Owner of any developing issues or challenges influencing the successful operation of the service.

*To support the recruitment process for new team members and engage in the induction procedure both formally and informally.

Welfare and Development of the Child:

*Support teams in ensuring the safety health and welfare of all children attending the service and ensure that their development and well-being is being supported.

*Support and mentor teams to ensuring rooms are child led and focused on the needs of the children in the service.

*To oversee the planning, implementation and reviewing of an emergent interest and inquiry-based curriculum for young children supporting each child’s learning opportunities within the service in conjunction with Lead Educators/Educators.

*Ensuring the planning, implementing, and reflecting on all curriculum plans are relevant and up to date to ensure all areas of the children’s development are being met.

*Oversee any developmental concerns regarding any children, support the team in formulating a plan of action or appropriate intervention for meeting the child’s individual needs in conjunction with the family.

*Create a friendly, relaxed environment to establish children and their families with a feeling of trust, confidence, and security.

Financial and Administration

*To draft and implement all policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to daily.

*To ensure the compilation and updating of student and children’s records and ensure all rooms have completed reviews as per policy.

*To ensure staffs hours/rostering are appropriately logged and communicated.

*To manage the cross-programme compliance and ensure all documents are up to date

*To manage all NCS registrations for all services.

*To manage the waiting list, enrollment, and registration of all children in conjunction with higher management.

*Maintain all records and files to a high standard, in hard and soft copies when necessary.

Health and Safety

*To ensure the service is compliant with regulatory requirements and support your team in understanding the requirement

*Oversee the general presentation and cleaning of rooms and the building where applicable.

Communication

*Carry out weekly quality and compliance checks and ensure all findings and actions are shared

*To liaise with the area manager daily in relation to the operation and overall running of the service i.e., staffing levels.

*Acting as first point of contact in the area for all related queries and provision of information on the service for parents and staff.

*To maintain effective communication with all stakeholders – families, team members, owner etc.

Leadership and Management

*To identify and ensure each staff member is carrying out all the duties effectively and identify where support may be needed.

*Daily management and leadership of team members – team direction and organisation, staff motivation and staff facilitation.

*To communicate with team members before, during and after conducting support and supervision meetings (held every 6-8 weeks) and to provide any support or guidance that may be required on a regular basis.

*To support the team in identifying complex needs of individual children and devising a plan in collaboration with the family to help support the child’s needs.

*To facilitate any on-site inspections (e.g. DES, Tusla, EHO etc) when required.

Training and Personal Development

*To identify, provide and implement all staff training programmes and schedules – including staff personal development in conjunction with the area manager/owner.

*Maintain a system of performance evaluations noting and addressing any performance issues or concerns on a regular basis.

*Contribute to Staff Appraisals.

*Maintain all regulatory training and notify the area manager/owner of the same.

*Facilitating team meetings and encouraging positive contributions from team members

Pay: From €40,000.00 per year
