About the role

Reporting to the General Manager – Mildura, you’ll take charge of the entire plant life cycle - from mother stock and propagation through to harvest and cut-down. You’ll lead critical cultivation activities including planting, spacing, flowering, table wash, and waste management, while keeping a sharp eye on plant health, team performance, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll drive efficiency, quality, and coach a skilled cultivation team to deliver premium medicinal cannabis at scale. Working closely with the Production Manager and Cann leadership team, you’ll help shape strategy, streamline resources, and play a key role in developing excellent medicinal cannabis products in Australia to improve the quality of life for patients.

As a Cultivation Manager, you will

Lead all cultivation operations at the Mildura facility, including mother stock management, propagation, planting, pest and disease control, flowering, harvest, and waste management.

Coach and support cultivation leads to execute production plans aligned with Cann’s strategic objectives.

Maintain and optimise cultivation schedules and workflows to meet quality and yield targets.

Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Oversee rostering, performance management, and training of the cultivation and harvest teams.

Support the implementation of new technologies, systems, and processes within the cultivation environment.

Ensure full compliance with GACP, GMP, ODC and other relevant regulatory frameworks; support audits and quality documentation practices.

Oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) across cultivation activities.

Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Engineering teams to manage deviations, troubleshooting, and continuous system improvements.

Represent the Mildura cultivation team in company-wide meetings and cross-functional initiatives.

Represent the company in external events, industry forums, and collaborative partnerships to support Cann’s leadership in cultivation innovation.

Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe working environment for all staff.

About you

Qualifications / Licences

Tertiary qualifications in Science, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or related field.
Pre-employment Security and Health Screening.

Experience

At least 3-5 years’ experience within a management production horticulture role – preferably within the Medicinal Cannabis industry.
Proven experience managing large-scale commercial cultivation (cannabis, protected cropping or similar).
Experience in regulated environments (GMP, GACP, ODC, TGA) is highly regarded.

Skills

Leadership that is hands-on, adaptable, and focused on delivering tangible results.

Strong people and performance management capabilities, with a proven ability to lead teams effectively.

In-depth knowledge of plant science, including IPM, fertigation, climate control, and lighting systems.

Excellent organisational and scheduling skills, with a sharp eye for detail and a strong commitment to compliance, audits, and continuous improvement.

Ability to contribute to broader business and operational strategy, aligning team goals with company commercial objectives
