Curatorial Assistant

Post secondary courses in museum studies, history, education or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Proficiency with computer programs in the Windows environment and Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. Knowledge of software such as Past Perfect (or other museum collections management software), Xplor (Perfect Mind), Sling, Canva, is an asset.

Experience in the area of customer service. Able to communicate effectively with people of all ages and abilities.

Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with a diverse range of the public.

Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, research and planning.

Working knowledge or familiarity with working in a museum, archival or library environment.

Familiarity with archival principles and practices.

Working knowledge of the care, handling and correct storage of archival material is an asset.

Ability to work independently or in a group setting. Comfortable with leading tours, public speaking, and delivering presentations.

Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.

Class G Driver’s Licence in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.

Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Availability/flexibility to attend, work, and organize evening/weekend meetings and events.
