JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the class is to provide cleaning services for County buildings and facilities. The work of the class includes but is not limited to cleaning offices, common areas, bathrooms, kitchens, and/or areas of facilities. The positions work according to defined procedures; work is regularly reviewed by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Cleans offices, bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas as assigned.
  • Vacuums, mops, strips, and waxes floors.
  • Dusts and washes glass and surfaces.
  • Replaces items including but not limited to paper towels and hand soap.
  • Collects trash and recyclables and delivers to designated pick up areas.
  • Cleans and picks up outdoor areas including parking areas.
  • Maintains cleaning supplies by conducting inventory and ordering additional materials as necessary.
  • Performs other assigned duties.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age to drive a County vehicle.
  • Valid state driver’s license. Must have no more than three (3) points showing on current DMV records in order to operate County vehicles.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of county ordinances, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of custodial practices and procedures.
  • Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in the use of computers and applicable software programs.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools including but not limited to buffers, floor polishers, vacuums, outdoor handheld power equipment, and small handheld tools.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing goals and priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively with other employees and the general public.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires medium work that involves walking, crouching, lifting, grasping objects, and/or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between thirty (30) and fifty (50) pounds of force on a recurring basis, or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities, depth and texture perception, and color perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Essential functions are occasionally performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions including rain, snow, or sleet, and/or hot or cold temperatures. The class is exposed to light and medium equipment, and hazardous chemicals, that may cause bodily harm to self or others.
