JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the shelter Custodian is to perform routine cleaning and upkeep of the non-animal care areas of the MAC facility, including cleaning of office spaces and restroom facilities, organization of supplies and equipment, basic building and grounds maintenance and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, take pride in a job well done, enjoy working with people (and animals) and be committed to ensuring a safe, collaborative working environment for all.

SALARY AND SCHEDULE

• Rate: $15.00 per hour
• Classification: Non-exempt, hourly position
• Part Time, Flexible Schedule from 7am to 3pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Routine cleaning of office spaces
• Routing cleaning of restrooms
• Routine cleaning of hallways and public spaces
• Re-stocking & organization of Center supplies
• General debris removal
• Maintenance and organization of indoor and outdoor storage areas
• Pickup of donations and supplies as needed
• Routine facility maintenance
• Supporting of special projects
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Skills

• Prior custodial/maintenance experience preferred.
• Must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
• Must be a goal oriented self-starter and take personal pride in the appearance of the Center.
• Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver’s license with an insurable driving record (current Motor Vehicle Report must be supplied at time of employment).

• Ability to perform physical work: scrubbing, mopping, bending, lifting, walking, and standing for duration of shift.
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds without assistance and 100 pounds with assistance.
• Potential exposure to high noise levels, zoonotic diseases, fractious animals.
• Must be able to perform routine maintenance and minor construction work, including moving equipment, climbing ladders, etc.
• Drug testing will be required whenever a potential worker’s compensation claim injury occurs.
