Working through Universities by Sodexo greeting visitors and students with a smile and giving them an invaluable first impression are your responsibilities as a Customer Service Assistant at Sodexo in Northumbria University, Trinity Square Student Accommodation, Gateshead, NE8 1AQ. What you’ll do:
- Provide a welcoming reception and administration service, handling inquiries, key management, post room services, and inputting maintenance requests.
- Ensure that you deliver 5-star customer service at all times
- Assistance for workplace training, inductions, hospitality, and meeting room connectivity
- Display adaptability and assist the team with any tasks or projects they require assistance with
- Perform administrative duties, including applying charges, room allocation, conducting customer viewings, liaising with the University, supporting commercial activity, and promoting returner campaigns.
- Ensure accurate information is consistently available to staff across the accommodation estate.
- Conduct flat and room inspections, departure checks, and pre-arrival preparations using Inventory Hive software.
- Provide emergency response for buildings during office hours, with rare out-of-hours support for extreme emergencies.
- Support cleaning operations as directed and take pride in site presentation, reviewing processes to meet stakeholder expectations.
- Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to deliver efficient services, adhere to Health and Safety policies, foster personal development, innovate service delivery, organize events, and promote continual improvement through data collection and engagement.
What you bring:
- Ability to prioritize workload independently, work calmly under pressure, and handle emergencies.
- Strong knowledge of data protection and experience managing sensitive issues appropriately.
- Team player with a flexible approach, offering and requesting support when needed.
- Excellent IT skills, including experience with databases, spreadsheets, social media, Microsoft Office, and computerised accounting.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to spelling, grammar, and clarity.
- Self-motivated with excellent note-taking abilities and a commitment to personal learning and development.
- Proven ability to deliver a positive customer experience, manage complaints, and handle sensitive situations empathetically.
- Experience working with diverse individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and religions.
- Flexible to work on a rota basis, including weekends, with a willingness to work overtime as required.
Essential Criteria
- Educated to a minimum of GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Training in IT packages and keyboard skills.
