The Security Operations Lead is responsible for enhancing existing security controls and leading a team of cyber and security engineers, ensuring the continuous and effective operation of the Cyber Defence Operations (CDO) team.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security Lead Engineer to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand. In this critical role, you will lead our cybersecurity efforts, developing and implementing robust security strategies to protect our organization's digital assets and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain the organization's cybersecurity strategy, policies, and procedures
- Lead and mentor a team of security professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Design and implement advanced security measures to protect against cyber threats and vulnerabilities
- Conduct regular security assessments and penetration testing to identify and address potential weaknesses
- Manage and optimize security information and event management (SIEM) systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into all aspects of the organization
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threat landscapes
- Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees
- Manage incident response processes and lead investigations into security breaches
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
- Provide expert guidance to senior management on cybersecurity matters and risk mitigation strategies
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and emerging trends
- Expertise in network security, encryption technologies, and access control systems
- Proficiency in security information and event management (SIEM) tools
- Demonstrated experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodologies
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, Java, and C++
- In-depth knowledge of cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in threat intelligence, incident response, and risk assessment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Has proven experience being able to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
