Data Analyst - Climate

• Full Time Ongoing, 35 hours per week
• Location: Willing to consider candidates across all NSW locations. Preference will be given to candidates based regionally, with a focus on Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour
• Professional Officer 1-4, salary starting from $137,176.00 p.a commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience

Join the Climate Applications team at DPIRD and use your data skills to support real-time climate monitoring, forecasting, and drought coordination. Help shape the NSW Enhanced Drought Information System (EDIS) and contribute to high-profile reports like the State Seasonal Update.

What you’ll do:

• Maintain and enhance EDIS codebase and architecture
• Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy
• Build and manage data pipelines for Power BI dashboards
• Support climate projects using Python, R, and Matlab
• Respond to internal and external data requests

What we’re looking for:

• Skilled coder with experience in scientific computing (Python, R, Matlab)
• Strong data visualisation skills (Power BI)
• Passion for climate resilience and evidence-based insights
• Experience in agricultural/natural systems modelling and Linux environments

Essential requirements:

• Post graduate degree in Science, Geographic Information Systems, Agricultural Science, Computer Science or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent industry experience.
