Data Analyst Internship

Your role

We are looking for a Data Analyst/Data Scientist Intern based in Amsterdam. You will be part of our central Data & Insights team, and work closely with the Senior Data Analyst in charge of commercial analytics: think pricing research, partnerships and competition insights.

In this internship, you will have two primary focuses:

• The first (about 50% of your time) is to support data-driven decision-making for the commercial department. This involves taking (and sometimes challenging!) stakeholder requirements for analytics/data projects, and translating them into easy-to-use and insightful outputs. To successfully do this, you’ll need to understand and empathize with commercial challenges, and a knack for creating clarity out of complex data.

• The second focus (about 50% of your time) will be around Fastned’s pricing. With your knowledge of statistics and econometrics, you’ll dig into historical data on pricing, charging demand, and location strategy to uncover how price changes affect demand in the fast charging market. Your insights will inform Fastned’s pricing strategy at a critical moment.

Altogether, you’re a great fit for this internship if you are keen to use your data skills, both advanced and more basic, to create real impact with our commercial department! You will also have the opportunity to learn how to work with what’s often called a ‘modern data stack’; some of the most recent and widely used data technologies!

Your overall responsibilities include

• Support teams in defining their goals in a quantitative manner and in understanding how they are progressing;

• Partner with data-savvy commercial colleagues to make sure they have clear data, excellent business intelligence assets and someone who can think analytically along with them;

• Apply statistics, econometrics models, and write queries to uncover insights about the impact of pricing on charging demand;

• Prepare presentations to communicate the findings of your pricing research work, keeping in mind that this topic is new to most stakeholders.

Who we are looking for

You love digging through data to uncover valuable insights. If you’re excited to make discoveries, understand their implications and share your findings, then you’re in the right place. Since you’ll work closely with our commercial department, you’re someone who is driven not by the method you use, but rather the impact it can have.

Additionally, you tick the following boxes:

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Econometrics, Statistics or similar;

• Familiarity with related techniques, like regression, correlations etc;

• Knowledge of Python or R;

• Familiarity (or willingness to work) with SQL. If this is new to you, we’ll provide SQL training;

• Interest in having an impact with data in the business world.

Internship conditions

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree, ideally in a university in the Netherlands

• Available starting from January 15, 2025

• Duration: 6 months full-time

• Hybrid: we expect you to come to the office frequently because we think this will be how you will learn the fastest, and we think the Fastned office is fantastic

• You will report into our Senior Data Analyst for Commercial topics
