Data Governance Analyst

Job Description: The role is responsible for strengthening the organization’s data quality, governance, and transparency capabilities across enterprise data products. This position will focus on enhancing data quality monitoring, implementing data quality rules, curating metadata, and ensuring alignment between published reports and governed definitions. The role will work closely with analytics, data engineering, and business teams to improve accuracy, trust, and usability of critical data assets

Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

• Enhance Data Quality Monitoring
  • Improve and extend the Data Quality (DQ) dashboards to better identify and support remediation of data issues.
  • Define and implement additional accuracy-focused data quality rules as understanding of the data evolves.
  • Leverage Dataiku to build and automate data pipelines that feed DQ dashboards, reducing reliance on embedded queries within Power BI reports.
• Implement Data Quality Rules for Data Products
  • Configure and maintain data quality rules for key data products.
  • Support the definition and tracking of strategy and data quality metrics.
• Curate and Govern Metadata
  • Curate physical data assets in Alation, including business and technical definitions, data quality rules, PI/PII flags, and data lineage.
  • Maintain alignment between report definitions in Alation and published reports to ensure consistency and trust in reported metrics.
  • Document lineage from source systems to target systems and downstream reports. Maintain and enrich the data catalog with business and technical metadata.
  • Handle catalog updates and documentation with minimal supervision - Work with business users, data owners, and data engineers to clarify definitions and resolve data issues.
  • Create and update glossary terms, business definitions, ownership details, and data classifications
  • Provide limited support to Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives as needed.

Qualifications: Required Skills

• Experience in Data governance activities - 5+ Years
• Alation – Data Cataloguing tool; Metadata management and glossary maintenance; Data lineage and documentation.
• Data mapping and standardization; Data quality analysis and issue resolution.
• Strong understanding of database management, data mining, and reporting concepts.
• Exposure to Redshift data warehouse & Other SQL databases
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts.
• Technology Experience

  • Informatica CDQ (Good to have)
  Amazon Redshift (or equivalent database experience)
  

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field.
• Equivalent experience in data management, data quality, or governance can also be acceptable.
