About Orange Sky
Are you passionate about turning complex data into powerful stories that drive real-world impact? Do you have a head for data science, a heart for service, and a knack for making insights accessible, engaging, and actionable? If yes, we’d love to hear from you!
At Orange Sky, we’re on a mission to positively connecting communities, and data plays a key role in helping us understand where we are, what’s working, and how we can do better. We’re looking for a Data & Insights Specialist to help lead that charge, delivering clear, compelling insights that enable smarter decisions across our organisation.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership level data role at the heart of a purpose driven organisation. Reporting to the Data, Insights & Finance Manager, and leading our Data & Insights Support Officer, you'll be responsible for everything from managing our central data warehouse to delivering predictive models, dashboards, and strategic reporting.
You’ll need to be comfortable with technical complexity, but also brilliant at communicating it. You’ll use your mix of data science, visualisation, and storytelling skills to empower teams across Orange Sky to access and use insights with confidence.
In a nutshell, you will:
- Co-design and manage our data warehouse and pipelines (Fabric, Azure, SQL)
- Deliver predictive and strategic insights that influence decisions org-wide
- Translate complex data into beautiful dashboards and engaging written insights
- Lead, support, and coach our Data & Insights Support Officer
- Work with teams to define KPIs, track progress, and build decision ready reporting
- Use tools like Power BI, SQL, R, Python, and DAX to model, visualise, and share insights
- Contribute to data governance, modelling logic, and best practices
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience managing or building a data warehouse
- Are proficient in Power BI, SQL, and at least one of R or Python
- Know how to communicate complex insights clearly, visually, and with impact
- Have experience in data modelling, analytics, or forecasting
- Are curious, self-driven, and excited by challenges
- Have experience mentoring or leading others (formal or informal)
- Enjoy working across teams and supporting non-technical users to use data well
- Are aligned with Orange Sky’s mission to positively connect communities
Benefits
At Orange Sky, we want every person to be "Better for Being Orange". That is every one of our volunteers, friends, and supporters, all while working together towards delivering our mission of "Positively Connecting Communities". You not only get to work with an outstanding bunch of high-performing people, but you're supported to continue your own personal growth and development in an inclusive and flexible environment, with benefits including:
- Attractive and fair remuneration package based on industry benchmarking;
- Attractive salary packaging options - up to $15,900 tax free per year;
- Flexible approach to work;
- Development thought the Orange Sky My Career Pathway
- Professional development fund (both formal and informal learning opportunities);
- Recognition program that includes a paid-out reward scheme and gifted leave;
- Additional leave including Orange Sky public holiday and gifted leave for high performance;
- 6-12 weeks paid parental leave for primary care givers and 1 week for secondary caregivers, including superannuation in addition to the 18 weeks paid parental leave from the government. Plus support for parents returning to work;
- Wellness initiatives and an Employee Assistance Program;
- Fitness Passport memberships on offer for you and your family to help support a healthy lifestyle;
- Dog friendly offices - bring your (furry) best mate with you to work.
We are committed to facilitating a barrier-free recruitment process and work environment. If you require any accommodations, we welcome you to let us know so we can work with you to participate fully in our recruitment experience.
