Day Program Worker For Developmental Disabilities(Vehicle Required)

Day Program Support Workers report directly to the Day Program Supervisor (or Springcare’s directors if there is no Program Supervisor). Under the supervision of the Directors, this position is responsible for the day-to-day programming and activities at our day programs. Our day programs support youth and adults who are living with developmental or physical disabilities. Duties include planning and implementing inclusive activities for the program participants, completing documentation related to participants services and as per their Behaviour Support Plans (if applicable), and ensuring the safety and comfort of the program participants.

Tasks Include:

· Monitors program participants and ensures their comfort and safety.

· Maintains a safe working environment for themselves, other staff, and the participants.

· Provides support for activities of daily living (toileting, changing clothing, and showering after swimming outings).

· Assists clients in and out of the shower/ pool area but does not physical lift clients.

· Assist clients to engage in their community. This is done by finding local events and activities for the program to visit or join in (example: Santa Claus Parade, Disney on Ice, etc.)

· Actively participates in day program activities and models mature and responsible behaviour.

· Completes documentation daily for all program participants.

· Completes incident reports as required.

· Cleans day program area and disinfects all surfaces.

· Participates in a worker evaluation at 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. After the first-year worker evaluations will be done annually.

· Other duties as assigned.

The Day Program Support worker will have a Personal Support Worker Certificate, Social Service Worker Diploma, Developmental Service Worker Diploma or equivalent. They will have a completed Health Clearance including a negative TB test, a clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and will sign a medical attestation that they feel medically fit for the job. In addition to the following they will have a minimum of Emergency First Aid and CPR “C” as well as CPI, Safe Management or UMAB Training. The worker must be able to take direction from the Director’s or the Day Program Supervisor (where applicable).

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 6 per week

Experience:

  • autism: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (required)
  • Vehicle and G License, equipped to travel with clients (required)
