SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Dean for the College of Health, Liberal Arts and Sciences to lead its nationally-recognized nursing, veterinary science technology, and liberal arts and sciences programs. The Dean of the College of Health, Liberal Arts & Sciences supports the mission of SUNY Delhi by providing strategic vision, leadership, supervision, and administration of a broad portfolio of academic programs leading to associate to graduate degrees. The Dean is responsible for developing strategies for student recruitment, success, and retention to achieve targeted enrollments. The Dean will be directly involved with the selection, support, and supervision of three associate deans, program directors, faculty, and staff. Demonstrated experience in teaching, technology, academic leadership, scholarship, and institutional/programmatic accreditation is required. As an effective communicator and collaborator at all levels within the College of Health, Liberal Arts & Science, campus, and community, the Dean will work closely with both academic and administrative areas of the institution.

Academic:

  • Participate in the development of the strategic vision, short and long-range plans, and goals and objectives in support of SUNY Delhi's mission.
  • Work with accrediting agencies to maintain and/or achieve program accreditation.
  • Oversee the improvement of instruction and student learning through the development, implementation and use of course and program level assessment.
  • Work with department faculty to develop new program initiatives in response to student, workforce and economic development needs.
  • Facilitate program and curriculum development and program evaluation.
  • Oversee and delegate responsibility for the academic advisement of students.
  • Promote scholarships and gifts to the college in conjunction with Office of College Advancement.
  • Develop and deliver academic programs to non-traditional students through various modes including online through the Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development to develop and deliver off campus instructional programs.
  • Oversee program laboratory facilities.

Management:

  • Provide supervision, administration and leadership for academic programs, faculty and staff members on a daily basis.
  • Facilitate and serve as a channel for reciprocal communication between the faculty and staff within the School, across schools and across functions within the college.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, selection, supervision and evaluation of faculty, professional and classified staff.
  • Work with accrediting agencies to maintain and/or achieve program accreditation.
  • Work with departmental faculty to develop new program initiatives in response to student, workforce and economic development needs. Develop new curricula and prepare proposals to obtain approval.
  • Provide leadership in the pursuit of grant funding opportunities, including the preparation of grant proposals.
  • Recommend and oversee divisional budgets.
  • Approve course schedules, instructional and staff assignments.
  • Organize, appoint and/or serve on appropriate academic and administrative committees.
  • Work with Campus Information Systems to enhance the use of technology in instruction and administration.
  • Recommend and approve the acquisition and maintenance of academic equipment and supplies.
  • Prioritize acquisition of academic equipment based on college and goals of the School.
  • Represent SUNY Delhi at appropriate community, University and professional functions and meetings.
  • Develop and maintain industry contacts.
  • Work closely with program advisory councils.
  • Prepare college catalog, web content, and other appropriate descriptive materials.
  • Develop and prepare requested reports for the campus, leadership team and SUNY.
  • Participate in admissions activities to facilitate and promote student enrollment in academics programs represented by the college.
  • Monitor and guide academic student projects as necessary.

Recruitment and Admissions:

  • Continually investigate and develop ways of improving services to students.
  • Oversee recruitment of and work closely with program advisory councils.
  • Work closely with enrollment and college advancement staff to promote SUNY Delhi, achieve targeted enrollment growth within existing, new, and under-enrolled programs.
  • Participate in admissions activities to highlight programs within the School.

Job Requirements:


Education:

  • Earned Doctorate from accredited institution in a related field

Experience:

  • Successful academic administrative and teaching experience in diverse levels of education required. Preference will be given to candidates with both face-to-face and on-line teaching/administrative experience.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, human relations, financial management, oral and written communications, analytical and team building skills.
  • Knowledge in the areas covered by the academic programs offered through the College of Health, Liberal Arts & Sciences.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administration, and members of the industries/trades the College represents.
