Job Summary:
As a Deli Assistant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving deli products, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the deli area. This role requires a friendly, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for food.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers with their deli orders.
- Offer product suggestions and provide information about deli items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and serving suggestions.
- Ensure customers have a positive experience by addressing any questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
2. Food Preparation:
- Prepare deli trays, sandwiches, salads, and other ready-to-eat items.
- Follow food safety guidelines to ensure products are stored, handled, and prepared in a sanitary manner.
3. Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the Deli Manager when stock is low.
- Assist in receiving and stocking deli products, ensuring accurate inventory counts.
- Rotate stock to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
4. Cleanliness and Safety:
- Maintain a clean and organized deli counter, equipment, and work area.
- Follow proper cleaning procedures for deli equipment and tools.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
5. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Deli Manager and other team members to ensure efficient deli operations.
- Assist with training new employees as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve deli services and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a deli, kitchen, or food service environment is preferred but not required.
- Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with deli products, food safety standards, and basic math skills for handling transactions.
