Position Summary

Red Hawk Farm is a 52-acre organic farm located in northern Orange County in its 11th year of business. We have developed a compelling produce farm model, rooted in soil-based greenhouse production and local, direct wholesale marketing. Our model provides the quality and character of product typically only found at the best farmers’ markets to grocery stores and institutions in the volume and consistency of supply necessary to meet requirements of their buyers.

The Red Hawk Farm’s Driver 2 position is focused on vehicle loading, product delivery, and product unloading at the delivery site one or two days a week, with light vehicle cleaning and fueling responsibilities.

The Driver 2 position will work a minimum of one day per week for 4 hours, up to two days per week for 6 hours. Specific terms negotiated based on Red Hawk and the employee’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Delivery

• Lift up to 50 pounds while loading/unloading product into and out of the delivery van.
• Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service during all delivery interactions.

2. Logistics Management

• Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines in collaboration with the Operations Manager (supervisor).
• Complete delivery documentation such as logs, mileage, and delivery slips.
• Communicate effectively and cordially with supervisors and co-workers.

3. Vehicle Care

• Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to sit behind a wheel for long periods of time.
• Strong communication skills.
• Skilled at managing time, operating efficiently, and providing high quality customer service.

Work Environment

This role involves mostly delivery tasks within the Triangle Region of NC, along with a few office tasks at the farm. There is some seasonal variability in the length/duration of delivery routes. Driver 2 must be able to manage physical work in all weather conditions and collaborate across departments.

Compensation

Hourly rate and number of hours assigned will be based on experience, driver availability, and farm needs.
