Contract Delivery Driver & Operations Crew
University Firewood | Toronto & GTA
University Firewood is looking for a reliable, hard-working Contract Delivery Driver & Operations Crew Member to join our team.
Our philosophy is pretty simple: we take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
We work with trucks, heavy equipment, chainsaws, firewood, and trees—so safety, good judgment, and following our processes matter. At the same time, we believe work should be enjoyable, customers should be treated well, and a good crew should be able to have some fun while getting the job done.
This is a hands-on role involving firewood delivery, equipment operation, yard work, customer service, and occasional tree-service support.
What You’ll Be DoingFirewood Delivery & Customer Service
You’ll deliver firewood to residential and commercial customers throughout the GTA using our Ford F-550 delivery trucks.
Depending on the order, you’ll dump, carry, and/or stack firewood according to the customer’s instructions and our company standards.
You’re also the face of University Firewood when you arrive at a customer’s home or business. We expect friendly, respectful, and professional communication. Treat the customer’s property like you’d want someone to treat your own.
If something doesn’t go according to plan, don’t hide it. Customer complaints, property concerns, delivery issues, or other problems should be communicated to management promptly so we can make things right.
Trucks & Equipment
Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles, including Ford F-550 trucks, in accordance with company procedures.
This includes responsibility for the safe operation of the truck and dump box and completing appropriate vehicle and equipment checks.
You’ll also operate our John Deere skid steer to load firewood and move wood and materials around the yard.
Depending on the work being performed, you may also operate or assist with:
· Wood splitters
· Wood chippers
· Chainsaws
· Axes and splitting tools
· Pruning tools
· Other forestry, firewood-processing, and related equipment
All equipment must be operated in accordance with company safety procedures and operating standards. We like our firewood split—not our equipment.
Firewood & Yard Operations
The job isn’t just driving.
You’ll help load and unload service vehicles, move and store firewood, handle tree wood and logs, process wood, organize materials, and keep our yard and equipment ready for the next day’s work.
The work is physical. You must be capable of safely lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs and performing repetitive physical work, including carrying and stacking firewood.
Tree-Service Support
From time to time, you’ll also assist our tree-service operations.
This can include providing ground support to tree crews, handling wood and brush, using appropriate tools and equipment, and safely supporting climbers performing at-height tree work.
Tree-care activities must be performed in accordance with company standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and the direction of the crew lead or supervisor.
Records, Payments & Operations
Good operations depend on good information.
You’ll be expected to accurately maintain records relating to:
· Deliveries and services performed
· Customer information
· Payments received
· Operational or equipment issues
· Incidents or safety concerns
· Hours worked and time sheets
You may also collect and document customer payments, including cash payments, and remit them according to company procedures.
The role may also include ordering or picking up operational supplies when required.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
· Physical ability to lift, carry, move, deliver, and stack firewood, including loads of at least 50 lbs

· Ability to safely drive and operate company service vehicles

· Ability to follow company standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and instructions
· Ability to maintain accurate service, delivery, payment, operational, and time records
· Ability to responsibly handle digital, online, and cash payments
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Friendly and professional customer-service skills

· Good judgment and willingness to communicate problems rather than ignore them
