Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Are you an experienced and enthusiastic clinician ready to lead and support the development of the services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Anaesthesia & Operating Rooms, Perioperative Services?

This is a 12-month Fixed term opportunity for a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) with strong leadership skills and experience to support the transformation and delivery of quality patient care as well as provide daily operations and leadership direction to the team.

This challenging and rewarding role requires a leader with an ability to deliver innovative and creative solutions; also identify, create and maximise opportunities. You will be approachable, forward thinking and keen to implement changes to further enhance the services provided by the team. Strong relationship building and influencing skills will be key – the role requires a significant level of collaboration across the directorate and with other clinicians, Service Clinical Directors and Deputies.

This role is an exciting and genuine leadership opportunity to influence the shape of our Service whilst maintaining your clinical skills and practice. It may be a first step into a more formal leadership role, or you may have a proven history of leadership and are seeking a new opportunity.

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Registered with Medical Council of New Zealand and eligible to practice as a Specialist Anaesthetist in New Zealand.
  • Demonstrated outstanding clinical skills and experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Anaesthesia. A flexible and collaborative leadership style with experience in organisation and management of clinical teams.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capacity to drive positive change in healthcare
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in working effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • An ability to adopt innovative solutions and approaches to complex situations and challenges
  • A commitment to equity and health gain for Māori

We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand.
