We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Designer to join our growing engineering team, responsible for the design and optimisation of utility-scale solar farms and commercial & industrial (C&I) rooftop/ground-mounted solar projects. The successful candidate will play a lead role in developing technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant PV system designs from feasibility through to construction, assisting in establishing and leading a broader design team required to support a strong pipeline of projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in PV system design and knowledge of Ireland and UK grid connection standards, the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities and leadership experience in developing and mentoring team members.

- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, shading analysis, and yield simulations.
- Ensure designs comply with appropriate grid codes, TSO/DNO requirements, electrical and other relevant technical regulations, planning, and building regulations.
- Develop and lead a team of designers to support an expanding business, balancing the skills and experience mix to optimise team performance.
- Provide design input throughout project lifecycle: feasibility, planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Work closely with internal technical and construction teams and external contractors to resolve technical issues.
- Support procurement by specifying components (modules, inverters, mounting systems, cabling, protection devices).
- Ensure all designs meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Prepare as-built drawings, assist with O&M manuals and design compliance documentation.
- Stay updated on new technologies, products, and best practices in PV system design.
- Additional Duties as assigned by your manager
Requirements:

- 5-7 years’ experience in solar PV system design (utility-scale and/or C&I).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, or equivalent tools.
- Experience preparing single line diagrams, protection schemes, and cable sizing calculations.
- Strong knowledge of Irish, UK and EU electrical standards, grid connection requirements, and construction regulations.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland.
- Full Irish (EU) driving license required.
Preferred:
- Understanding of SCADA, monitoring systems, and energy storage integration.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work within tight deadlines.
