About the role

This position is a permanent full-time role in the Development and Compliance team, based at Council’s Moruya administration office. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and conducting pre-lodgement meetings and advice for development and statutory applications, ensuring submitted applications meet statutory requirements and Council standards, managing day-to-day operations of the unit, and undertaking development application assessments where necessary.

The starting salary for this position is $98,434.39 per annum plus 12% superannuation.

About you

You are a proactive and knowledgeable planning professional who thrives on delivering exceptional customer service and managing complex development processes. You bring strong technical expertise and leadership skills to guide your team and ensure compliance with planning legislation.

You will have:

  • Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in Planning or a related development field, or extensive relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge of planning and environmental legislation, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, related policies, Ecologically Sustainable Development principles, and the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff, prioritise workloads, work independently, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly for timely information delivery.
  • Strong experience in development assessment and providing advice to a diverse range of customers.
  • High-level computer literacy, including MS Office, approval databases, and GIS.
  • Proven negotiation and mediation skills to achieve sound development outcomes.
