About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and strategic Development Coordinator to join the Advancement team. In this role, you will be responsible for securing philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporations that aligns with the University’s key priorities across teaching and learning, research, student experience, and community engagement.
The Development Coordinator will work under the direction of the Chief Advancement Officer and connect with a number of University-wide stakeholders in jointly creating fundable opportunities that are meaningful to the University and donors.
Role responsibilities:
- Develop a detailed knowledge of the University’s academic strengths, research priorities, and community initiatives to identify fundable opportunities.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, and philanthropic foundations.
- Match donor interests to University priorities and develop high-quality, persuasive proposals and cases for support, especially regarding University wide scholarship opportunities.
- Manage the end-to-end fundraising process from identification and cultivation through to solicitation and stewardship.
- Collaborate with academic leaders and professional staff to articulate strategic funding needs and opportunities.
- Ensure appropriate recognition and reporting of gifts, and that all donor relationships are managed with integrity and care.
- Work in partnership with central University advancement colleagues to deliver institution-wide fundraising goals.
- Track progress against KPIs and contribute to planning, reporting, and evaluation activities.
- Have an advancement or business development background and be keen to support the transformative mission of higher education.
- Be a self-starter who works methodically and energetically to a plan and has the confidence to take on responsibility for the delivery of ambitious KPIs.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, advancement, or business development, preferably within higher education, health, or nonprofit sectors.
- A strong commitment to the mission of higher education and its transformative impact on health and wellbeing.
- A self-starter with excellent relationship management skills and the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, including senior academics, donors, and partners.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience crafting compelling proposals and presentations.
- Ability to understand donor motivations and translate academic priorities into persuasive philanthropic opportunities.
- Collaborative and collegial approach to teamwork within complex organisational environments.
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
