ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking organized and dedicated permanent part-time Dietary Aide to join our long-term care home! At Hillel Lodge, our Dietary team works tirelessly to create traditional and tasty home-made meals and snacks which are prepared and served in accordance with the laws of Kashruth (Jewish dietary laws) and are all certified Kosher. Although we are a Jewish home, we welcome residents and staff from all backgrounds and with all lived experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and serves meals, snacks, and beverages according to diet orders, including special diets. Sets dining room tables for service, and transports food carts to and from food service areas as required.
- Records food shortages and leftovers on production sheets and restocks kitchens, serveries, and recreation fridges from storage.
- Measures and records temperatures of fridges, freezers, and food before service.
- Maintains kitchen cleanliness as required by Public Health Standards, including washing dishes, pots, pans, food carts and floors, and removing garbage and recycling.
- Ensures that the standards and laws of Kashruth are maintained.
- Ensures the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of the residents.
- Performs other duties as required to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the Home.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Holds a valid and current Food Handler’s Certification and Health Care Food Service Worker Certificate.
- Demonstrates proper lifting techniques of food supplies and kitchen utensils/equipment.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and able to follow instructions and schedules of daily operation.
- Communicates clearly and effectively in verbal and written English.
- Patient and empathetic in listening to others.
- Manages, organizes, and prioritizes time and resources effectively.
- Exhibits a professional and positive attitude.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and frequently lift 20lbs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous work experience in a Long-Term Care facility.
- Knowledge of practices and traditions of the Jewish religion and the laws of Kashruth.
