Under the direction of the Food Services Manager and the supervision of the Food Services Supervisors, the Dietary Aide is responsible for the accurate, timely delivery and retrieval of patient meals, as well as quantity food prep and taking patient meal orders. The Dietary Aid executes their work with an understanding and knowledge of the diets and nutritional values set out by the service standards of Aramark.

While working in the cafeteria, the Dietary Aide is responsible for serving customers, stocking cafeteria supplies, and cleaning duties. The Dietary Aide adheres to hospital and departmental standards and procedures.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICIATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Food Safety Certification course that is recognized by the Ministry of Health
  • Minimum of 1-year food service worker experience in an institutional setting or food service establishment
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have manual dexterity and ability to work with numbers for the required operation of an iPad POS system
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

ASSEST

  • Food Service Worker program or equivalent on the job training; Food Safety Training, WHMIS or ability to attain
  • Experience using Computrition or other menu management software
  • Hospitality, Culinary or Nutrition Management diploma
  • Food service operations
  • Bilingual - English and French

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly rate of pay $27.42 to $28.05, vacation accrual starting at two (2) weeks per year, with an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of paid vacation. Paid vacation % increases throughout your tenure.

HOURS OF WORK
Temporary Full Time. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
