Director
Part-Time 12-15 hour/week
The Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society is seeking a highly organized and motivated Director to manage day-to-day operations, support the Board of Directors, and help fulfill the Society’s mission of preserving and promoting Suffolk’s rich history.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain daily office operations and administrative tasks
- Serve as the primary liaison to the SNHS Board of Directors
- Assist in preparing and monitoring the organization’s budget, income, and expenses
- Coordinate membership activities, public programs, and fundraising efforts
- Handle all communications, marketing, and public relations
- Provide support for historical collections and donor/membership management
- Participate in occasional evening or weekend events as needed
Schedule:
Part-time (12 hours/week)
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Qualifications:
- Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, internet tools, social media platforms and email
- Experience with donor/member management software preferred (e.g., PastPerfect or similar)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Board and volunteers
- Aptitude in fundraising, grant writing, and community engagement
- Experience or education in history, nonprofit management, or related fields preferred
Compensation:
TBD based on experience and qualifications
